Eighteen (18) compressors, powered by 7600 hp Wartsila engines. The compressors move oil from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean Sea in the Turkish portion of the Baku-Tbilissi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.
Challenge
Engine-out emissions for this major pipeline project were to meet the World Bank standards. The design target called for an oxidation catalyst to reduce engine-out volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by a minimum of 95%.
Solution
DCL met all design, delivery and product performance targets. The project obligations included – having all catalyst elements design loaded by hand, hinged reactor door, pressure rated stainless steel housing, manufacturer’s record book, design/code calculations, and FEA & CFD analysis. Deliveries took place in stages over 2003.
