Production Supervisor (Catalyst Production Dept.)

Title: Production Supervisor

Reports To: Production Manager

Assigned Shifts: Afternoon Shift: 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm

Assigned Work Days: Monday – Friday

Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

General

  • Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for: communicating job expectation; planning, monitoring, appraising job results; training/coaching, counseling, disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures
  • Responsible for developing the production schedule in accordance to daily, weekly, monthly orders and shop working force.
  • Prepares written documents such as performance evaluations and various reports
  • Have mechanical aptitude, considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and standard practices of the trade, good work history and good housekeeping habits
  • Able to understand the fitting, assembling and welding processes using the designated jigs and fixtures
  • Able to read complex technical drawing and have the experience and knowledge to work on prototypes
  • Have some knowledge about JIT (“Just in Time”) Manufacturing process

Organization

  • Monitor performance during the shift and report accurate data at the end of the shift – Employee productivity, attendance, overtime hours
  • Ensure prioritized orders are completed and late shipments are minimized -Monitor Coating Schedule and ensure work orders are completed before due dates -Communicate with account coordinators to ensure completion of priority orders
  • React in case of a problem: take care of immediate containment, notify support functions & management
  • Organize and track outsourcing of parts to suppliers (substrate, brazing, filters, etc.)

People Management

  • Permanent presence on the Shop floor: daily contact with all team members, close management of the lines
  • Quick response to production down time. Support and help to fix problems
  • Lead by example and ensure discipline and rigor (PPE/work wear, break times, working hours, etc.)

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) / Working Conditions

  • Ensure full respect of HSE rules and regulations, company policies and procedures
  • Provide PPE, tools, and other supplies to employees. Order supplies regularly and maintain stock of supplies
  • Announce safety issues and inform employees of safety alerts. Ensure documentation is completed -Maintain the department bulletin board: News, KPI’s, Safety Information, Company Policies, etc.
  • Ensure that all accidents are tended to immediately and investigations are conducted. Document all incidents and inform management and the HSE Coordinator

Team Work:

  • Arrive before start of shift in order to ensure transfer of all information from the Lead Hand of previous shift
  • Participate in shift briefings and debriefings and report line performance, successes, and issues as well as action initiated
  • Ensure transparent, timely communication with management -Perform any additional relevant tasks assigned by Production Manager

Minimum education level: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent work experience)

Work Experience

  • At least 2 years of production experience
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience

Skills & Competencies

  • Operational knowledge of production methods (KPI’s, Kanban, 5S, Quality Tools, etc.)
  • Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
  • Strong sense of teamwork
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding of logical manufacturing processes, systemization, and efficiency
  • Proven track record in upholding safety and quality standards
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards and willingness to adhere to company code of ethics and code of management
  • Advanced skills in MS Office
